Originally titled The Book of Black Magic and of Pacts, The Book of Ceremonial Magic is Waite’s attempt to syncretize several famous grimoires (Arbatel, Grimorum Verum, The Greater and Lesser Keys of Solomon and several others.) into one system. As well as to document and analyze, and explain the various texts in their historical context (In doing, refuting many of the myths about their supposed origins.)

Written in two parts, both contained within this volume, Waite has written an incredibly detailed look at the details and practice of ceremonial magic, as well as a complete grimoire in its own right.
